Madelene Schofield-Whittingham
Madelene is a specialist commercial property lawyer. She first qualified in 1995 and has practised in London, Bristol and the Midlands, building up an extensive contact base and wide client base.
Madelene’s practice and experience can be divided into three main areas:
- Acting for business owners and occupiers, including agricultural freeholders and tenants
- Acting for builders and developers ranging from a national house-builder to medium-sized and small developers
- Acting for investors
In acting for owners and occupiers of business premises Madelene deal with sales and purchases, leases and terminations, and refinances. She acts for agricultural clients dealing with sales and purchases of land and premises, agricultural tenancies both as landlord and tenant, and grazing licences.
In acting for builder and developer clients Madelene advises through from site appraisal and acquisition, S106 Agreements, and the subsequent sale or lease of developed-out units.
Madelene’s investment clients range from commercial and retail landlords, buy-to-let residential landlords and further acts for many company-owner retirement pension funds in respect of the acquisition into and the sale out of property assets including the transfer of assets into and between SIPP’s and SSAS’s.
Madelene takes a commercial and pragmatic approach to her client’s needs and works with them to achieve their particular requirements against the backdrop of their own business framework.
Madelene endeavours to get outdoors whenever possible to enjoy long walks, horse riding and gardening. When indoors, she enjoy watching classic films or listening to jazz and swing, both with a decent bottle of red!
