Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) Fees
If you wish to make a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) then the process could not be simpler and our team are more than happy to help arrange your first appointment. After your appointment is made you will be sent a short questionnaire to complete and return or bring to your appointment. This will ask you to indicate the details of your chosen attorneys.
After your initial meeting the LPA is sent to you in draft for approval before a signing appointment is then agreed with you. Once signed, the LPA is then sent to any attorneys that were not present at the meeting for them to sign. Everything is explained to them so that they understand how to sign and what to do before sending the LPA documents back to us. The average time for the LPA to be registered can vary from 6 to 12 weeks after they are sent to the Office of the Public Guardian.
You are always provided with a certified copy of the registered LPA free of charge, and you have the peace of mind that the original LPA is stored in our fireproof document safe until needed. If you require further certified copies of the LPA documents these are charged at £10 each. We do not provide copies automatically to the attorneys, just to you as the client (the donor).
VAT
Where VAT is said to apply it will be charged at the prevailing rate, currently 20%.

How much it costs
All LPA’s will be subject to an Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) registration fee.
It costs £82 to register each LPA unless you get a reduction or exemption. This means it costs £164 to register both a property and financial affairs LPA and a health and welfare LPA.
You can apply for a reduction if you earn less than £12,000 per annum. You might also be able to apply for an exemption if you’re on certain benefits, such as Income Support.

It would not normally be necessary to undertake other work or incur other costs other than those described above. However, we would be very happy to provide you with a more tailored quote for all stages of your particular case once we know about your specific circumstances.
In compliance with the UK Money Laundering Regulations, we must verify the identity of our clients as part of our Customer Due Diligence procedures.
Should you wish to opt into having your identity verified through the Thirdfort app using a smart phone, tablet or iPad (again more details will be provided in your initial client care pack). You can opt in by signing and returning the relevant form provided within our initial client care pack.
Please also note that for you to be able to use this service you must have a passport, photo driver’s licence, identity card or residence permit.
Fees for undertaking identity (ID) checks are £30 plus VAT (£36 including VAT) for the full check.
Where you provide us with ID in another format, we will still have to perform a 'Lite' check, which checks that you are not subject to sanctions or are a Politically Exposed Person (PEP). This fee is £15 plus VAT (£18 including VAT).
