Why become a consultant solicitor?
1. You’ll secure a bigger share of the profits from working with your clients
Whatever your specialism, working as a consultant allows you to retain all your own clients and with our business model, you’ll receive a bigger (and fairer) share of the profits from the work you do than you would if you were in traditional employment. Employed with a firm you may expect to earn a third of your billed work. At Chilcotts Law it can be up to 75%.
2. Choose a lifestyle that suits you
Working on a consultant basis means you can choose the working structure that suits you. Whenever you fancy having a Friday off – go for it! Have appointments you need to navigate around? No problem! Does childcare mean you need to start at 10am? Totally fine. Being a consultant means you can set your own working hours and days to fit around your lifestyle, making it an easier choice for parents or anyone managing life’s demands.
3. Truly flexible working
Outside of face to face client meetings, you’re free to work from wherever you like. Whether it’s your home office, local coffee shop, or hotel in France, you’re free to manage your own diary and will enjoy complete trust from us. Free from management meetings or office distractions, you can maximise your billable hours too.
4. We’ll provide you with guidance and support. This is best shown in this infographic:
Consultancy can feel a little lonely at times, but not if you work with us. We have decades of experience of working in law and we’re here to provide you with any support you need from our Tavistock team across a whole range of specialisms.
Additionally, we hold the Law Society Accreditation for the Conveyancing Quality Scheme becoming the first firm in Tavistock to do so in 2012.
5. We’ll manage your admin
In return for an agreed percentage of your billings, we’ll also do the heavy lifting where the admin is concerned – so you can focus on the important client work without the distractions of basic tasks. These include:
- Access to Quill
- Administrative support
- Access to our lender panels
- Accounts
- Archiving
- Complaints support
- Compliance and auditing
- Reception
- IT support
6. We’ll provide what you need
We will consider your request for an office space in your locality should there be a strong business case to do so.
